Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department in Royale Hayat Hospital conducted a full day symposium entitled “Lower Urinary Tract Dysfunction: Recent Advances & Management Challenges.” CSO/ Head of Women’s Services in the Hospital, Dr. Abubakr Elmardi, directed the event which took place in collaboration with National Health Services, UK (NHS), Hamad Medical Corporation, University of Kuwait, Kuwait Institute for Medical Specializations (K.I.M.S), and the Center for Continuing Education and Professional Development (CEPD).
Speakers in the symposiums were Dr. Sohier Elneil, Consultant Urogynaecologist and Uro-Neurology, University College Hospital & National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery, London, UK, Dr. Ayman Elnaqa Consultant Urogynaecologist & Pelvic Floor Reconstructive Surgery, Head of Dept. of Urogynaecology & Female Pelvic Medicine Unit, Women’s Wellness Research Center, Doha, Qatar, Dr. Hana’a Alhothi, Consultant Urologist, Surgical Dept. Hamad Medical Corporation, Doha, Qatar, and Dr. Nawal Al Sayegh, Associate Professor and Acting Chairperson Department of Physical Therapy Faculty of Allied Health Sciences - Kuwait University.
After Registration and introduction by Dr. Abubakr Elmardi, Dr. Nowall Al-Sayegh started the programme by “Urinary Incontinence in Kuwait… My Culture Made Me Do It!!!”, then came Dr. Sohier Elneil who delivered three lectures entitled “Overactive Bladder: Pathogenesis, Investigations & Innovations in Therapy,” “MESH: What have our patients taught us,” and “Obstetric Fistula Management in Under-Resourced Setting.”
Dr. Hana’a Alhothi presented two lectures on “Urinary Tract Infection in Female,” and “Guidelines on Diagnosis & Management of Interstitial Cystitis,” while Dr. Ayman Elnaqa delivered two lectures entitled “Urodynamic Testing - Made Easy,” and “Update of Surgical Management of Stress Urinary Incontinence.”
The symposium programme also included panel discussion and evaluation sessions.
